Looking at the Sun and Stars: 2/11
In June 2018, columnist Joel Ruiz Butayan wrote in the Philippine Daily Inquirer that we are in the middle of an "unprecedented flowering of the visual arts scene" in the Philippines. While yes, this often refers to traditional art, I'd like to think that his words ring true as well on DeviantArt: a place where we have many talented Filipino artists who deserve recognition. Here are some of my favorite pieces for this week's feature. Noong Hunyo 2018, inilathala ni Joel Ruiz Butayan, isang kolumnista sa Philippine Daily Inquirer, na nasa pagitan tayo ng isang "pag-usbong na walang pasimundan sa mundo ng sining biswal" sa Pilipinas. Kahit na oo, karaniwa'y tradisyonal na sining ang tinutukoy rito, naniniwala ako na totoo naman din ang sinasabi niya kung pag-uusapan natin ang DeviantArt: isang lugar na kung saan may napakaraming Pilipino na dapat lang bigyan ng pansin at pagkilala sa kalidad ng kanilang sining. Ito ang ilan sa aking mga paboritong likhain para sa linggong ito.
